Croatia supports ICC investigation in Ukraine

State Secretary Vedrana Šimundža Nikolić participated in the international conference “Supporting the ICC and its investigation into the situation in Ukraine”, which took place in London on 20 March.

The State Secretary pointed out that Croatia has strongly supported the Ukrainian people since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, stressing that Croatia has so far provided humanitarian aid worth 160 million Euro and accepted over 22,000 refugees from Ukraine.

“As a country that has undergone war devastation on its territory, we sympathise with the Ukrainian people. Croatia has expressed its willingness to share its experience in war crimes prosecution as well as in the establishment of a quality support system for victims and witnesses of war destruction. We strongly support the International Criminal Court and the Prosecutor in their efforts to shed light on the situation in Ukraine”, she said.

The conference “Supporting the ICC and its investigation into the situation in Ukraine” was organised by the UK Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Netherlands in support of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The conference brought together representatives of 40-odd countries.
