The European Day of Justice was established in 2003 by the Council of Europe and the European Commission, and has been traditionally marked on 25 October.

The goal of marking the European Day of Justice is to bring the judiciary closer to citizens, informing them about their rights and promoting the activities undertaken in the field of the judiciary.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration organised the Round table "Mediation in non-contentious proceedings" on 21 October 2022.

Minister of Justice and Public Administration Ivan Malenica highlighted at the event that "it is impossible to effect change in the judiciary without cooperation and openness to change because changes are a prerequisite for strengthening public trust in the justice system. By reinforcing the institute of mediation, we want to raise public awareness about the possibility of resolving disputes in a more convenient, faster and cheaper manner. The key message we want to send to our fellow citizens is to trust the mediation system."

In the upcoming period, the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration will remain dedicated to ensuring the requirements for quality functioning and further development of the justice system, increasing public confidence in the justice system and bringing it closer to citizens.
