A presentation of the project "Virtual reality in the context of treatment skills" took place on 7 June 2022 at the premises of the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration.

The presentation was livestreamed so that probation officers and treatment officers throughout Croatia could participate. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Romanian partner European Strategies Consulting, in the period 01/04/2022-01/10/2023, and its total value is EUR 60,000.

Project activities were presented, with a special emphasis on digital tool development activities and training of officers. Once the necessary digital tools have been developed and virtual reality equipment procured, a training of probation officers and treatment officers using the VR method will be delivered in Bucharest under the topic Creating a Therapeutic Alliance. The project envisages the participation of 5 probation officers from Croatia and 5 treatment officers from Romania.

The possibilities of subsequent application of the VR method in working with criminal offenders have also been considered.  By including the VR method in the training of officers and its possible subsequent adaptation for work with convicts, we are ensuring increased capacity and quality of work of treatment workers, developing new, innovative and digital tools in the field of work with perpetrators of crimes, strengthening the knowledge and competences of treatment officers and improving convicts' competitiveness, competencies and motivation to change.
