Twinning Project "Support to the prison system of the Republic of Croatia"

 

  
This EU project represents a joint partnership between the Croatian Ministry of Justice, the Federal Republic of Germany (Leading Member State), represented by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) www.irz-stiftung.de, and the Kingdom of Spain (JuniorMember State), represented by the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions (SGIP) and International and Ibero-American Foundation of Administration and Public Policies Projekt (FIIAPP).   

Project objectives

As an overall objective CRO PRISYS contributes to increasing the professional and management skills of the Croatian Prison System. The project will support the implementation of the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms regarding prison systems.
Amongst others a further main objective is to improve lifelong learning for the prison and juvenile treatment staff.

The project will last for 15 months with two main components:
Component 1: Support in establishing a more efficient Prison System
Component 2: Support in establishing an enhanced system for treatment of juveniles.

Through 20 activities, the project will focus, among others, on the recommendations for improvement of legislation of the Prison system and the organisational setup of the Training Centre adjusted in line with best EU practices.

The results of the project will serve as a good, valuable and comprehensive input to be considered within the on-going reorganization process of the Croatian judiciary.
