With the support of Norway Grants 2014-2021 (Justice Programme), from 1 to 3 November 2023, leading figures from European prison and probation systems met in Prague with the representatives of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, Probation and Mediation Service and the non-profit sector at the Roundtable “Yellow Ribbon - Growing European Together”, organised by Czech NGO Yellow Ribbon.

Nine years ago, the organisation’s CEO Gabriela Slováková launched the Yellow Ribbon Run (YRR), an awareness-raising project inspired by an equivalent event in Singapore. Every year, the race brings together people from the public, private and non-profit sectors as well as former prisoners and those still serving their sentences, in order to fight together against prejudice, for inclusion and for a safer society. Representatives from the Croatian prison and probation system (Gospić Prison Director and heads of Gospić Probation Office and Zagreb I Probation Office) also participated in the Roundtable.

All participants found it a good idea to bring such an initiative to their countries as well, to reduce recidivism and increase public safety. The participation of representatives from the Croatian probation service was financed under the project “Strengthening human rights protection and public safety by improving the capacities of the Croatian probation service”, Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
